Former governor of Gombe state and Senator representing Gombe Central in the National Assembly, Danjuma Goje, has said that the All Progressive Congress (APC) is yet to come up with a clearly defined manifesto that highlights its programmes.
Recall that the senator alongside 10 others had only recently engaged in a confrontation of sorts with the Senate President over the latter’s insistence not to read the defection letter signed by the lawmaker on their intention to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC in the upper chamber.
The lawmaker while responding to questions from newsmen yesterday disclosed that as a serving governor, the ruling PDP benefitted from him just as he did from it, when the party recorded a flawless defeat in Gombe state through his candidature that led to the ANPP’s loss in 2003.
Goje, also a former minister, said the absence of a detailed and articulated manifesto on the path of the APC made it difficult for him to speak about what citizens in Gombe state should expect if the party’s governorship candidate was voted into office in 2015.
He said: “On APC intended programme in Gombe if voted into power, since I’m not going to be the governor and since the manifesto of APC has not yet been properly articulated and circulated. I don’t want to preempt it by telling you here that these are what and what our candidate in the state will do or even at the federal level, but at the right time when the full details of the manifesto are ready, I will come back and tell you.”
He added that being a member of the APC while sitting on the same aisle as PDP senators in the upper chamber changed nothing, as his loyalty and that of the 10 other defecting lawmakers lay with the opposition.
He said he and the other 10 senators participated in the registration exercise of APC penultimate week in their various constituencies have been attending all the APC caucus meetings in the Senate apart from similar caucus meetings in their respective states and constituencies.
