Vice-president, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not a Muslim party and that President Muhammadu Buhari has no Islamic agenda in Nigeria as alleged.
Osinbajo stated this while addressing a crowd that gathered at the Olusegun Obasanjo Stadium Kaltungo, during the flag-off ceremony of the governorship campaign of Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Gombe state.
Gombe South Senatorial Zone, where Kaltungo is located, is the
stronghold of PDP and a multi-cultural and multi religious community.
Osinbajo said that APC is a party for everybody and as such, they should not be deceived that it has an Islamic agenda or that it is a terrorist party.
According to him, he is not only a Christian but a pastor who has worked very well with President Buhari whom he described as a very honest and sincere person.
While calling on the people to vote for President Buhari and Inuwa Yahaya as president and governor respectively, Osinbajo said a vote for APC at all levels is a vote that would take the nation to the next level.
Also speaking the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha, said if APC is a Muslim party, he would not have been part of the government and holding a very sensitive position.
The state APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Yahaya, said the people of the state and especially Gombe South have suffered greatly in the hands of PDP which was the reason they have rejected the party.
The gathering of ‘who’s is who’ in the North east had the presence of APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, who was represented by the deputy national chairman, North-east zone, Mustapha Salisu.
