APC is party to beat in Sokoto – Chieftain

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Gudu /Tangaza Federal Constituency of Sokoto state, Hon. Sani Yakubu has boasted that the party would win both at the centre and in Sokoto state come 2023 general elections.

Yakubu, who stated this in a chat with newsmen in Sokoto, noted that the APC fielded its flag bearers based on democratic norm, saying nobody was imposed on anybody; unlike the PDP where candidates were handpicked by one person.

Speaking on his candidature, Hon Sani who was a former member of the Sokoto state House of Assembly between 2007 and 2019 said he has the experience and capacity to make good representation for the development of his constituents and the nation.

Hon Yakubu identified security issues, education, health and poverty alleviation as most challenging aspects of Nigeria’s problems that he along with other lawmakers would closely focus on as the first line of assignment if elected.

“I will apply my wealth of experience while as a state lawmaker to strengthen my capacity and do better at the federal level,” he explained.

He lamented that Gudu and Tangaza local government areas are among frontline areas where communities are troubled by bandits in the North-west region.

“We have lost lives and property (livestock) to banditry and insurgency,” he lamented.

He also disclosed that while as lawmaker in the state assembly, he personally sponsored the bill that saw to the establishment of today’s Sokoto State Marshall and a responsive sanitation programme by the then government of Aliyu Wamakko.
