APC may settle for caretaker committee at NEC

Ahead of its caucus meeting scheduled for today at the Presidential Villa, Blueprint has learnt that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may jettison its tenure elongation for caretaker panel.
This medium recalled that the party at its 5th NEC meeting had agreed that the tenure of the National Working Committee (NWC) and other executives at all levels, which supposed to end by June this year be extended by 12 months, a move which led to legal tussles against the party.
Blueprint has earlier exclusively reported the caucus meeting scheduled for today and the National Working Committee (NEC) meeting billed for tomorrow in Abuja.
A senior member of the party, who is also a member of the NEC, told our correspondent last night that the party must play around the decision taken at the last NEC meeting so as to avoid several litigations against it.
According to him, the reason for the caretaker committee arrangement is to avoid the nomenclature ‘tenure extension’ which has generated a lot of reactions.
The source who pleaded anonymity, said: “The APC constitution does not provide for tenure extension until amendment is done hence a caretaker committee arrangement may be considered”
