APC not learning from history – Nyako

Former Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, has slammed the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) for failing to learn from the verdict of history by allowing impunity and injustice to be its hallmark.

Nyako, who is in a running battle with Governor Jibrilla Bindow, over the control of the APC machinery in the state, accused the national and state leaderships of the party of masterminding disregard for party constitution and internal democracy, ills, which he said, had consumed the PDP in 2015 general elections.

Speaking in Yola when the APC factional exco members loyal to his camp and some other party stakeholders from the 226 wards and 21 local governments in the state visited him to condole with him over the demise of his wife, Nyako said recent events have clearly demonstrated the slide into impunity and disdain for democratic principles.

He insisted that his faction of the APC won’t tolerate any act of injustice, impunity and imposition against the people of Adamawa state from any quarters.

Accordingly, he said likeminded individuals were exploring the possibility of taking up issues with the new leadership of the party to address the charade that took place in the name of congresses in the state and other parts of the country.

The outcome of the deliberations and consultations with the new national leadership, Nyako said will determine their next line of action and pleaded with his supporters to be patient and wait for next directive soon.

He vowed that he won’t allow any Pharaoh whether in Adamawa or Abuja to impose his whims and caprices on them in Adamawa, noting that after having sacrifice everything to build the party in the state it would foolhardy to allow anyone to rubbish his efforts.

“The essence of government apart from protecting lives and properties of the citizens is to give everybody its fair share, provide basic infrastructures, education and creating employment opportunities for the citizens

“During my time, I came out with programmes and policies that provided employment opportunities to the youth, sent them back to schools, trained them on various skills, which tackled poverty and criminality in the state.

“Unlike in the present administration where poverty, unemployment and hunger have become the order of the day leading to all forms of criminality and killings”, he said regretting that Gov Bindow’s administration has failed to prioritised infrastructural development.

Earlier, the group had pleaded with him to tell them the next line of action in Adamawa politics as their leader in view of the recent controversial party congresses in the state.
