APC optimistic of winning Ondo 2020 guber poll

The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has boasted that it would easily win the 2020 governorship election based on the impressive performance in the last two and a half years.

The party in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Alex Kalejaiye, the performance of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu administration has won over many converts thus giving assurance that the APC would again clinch the mandate to continue ruling for the next four years.

The party also dismissed claims by the opposition that it is factionalised and therefore unlikely to garner enough support from the electorate to retain power in 2020.

Rather than being divided, the leadership of the party boasted that it has not only closed ranks but has won more converts from the PDP and other parties, who have defected to its fold.

The publicity scribe said the APC is waxing stronger daily, a development he said would make it difficult for the opposition parties to capture the reins of power in subsequent election.

“The state executive is not factionalised nor disenchanted with a government that has made the party proud, and created an atmosphere of confidence and trust between government and the governed.

“The State Working Committee, for example, is deeply preoccupied with its continuous duty of ensuring, and sustaining oneness and unity of members without prejudice. The SWC has no regard for camps or groups.

“The APC-led government has never slacked in the construction of quality roads, provision of potable water, massive investment in agriculture and the health sector, and creation of industrial hubs in the state.”

The APC made the statement barely 24 hours following the declaration of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the last governorship election, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, that he would re-contest against Mr Rotimi Akeredolu in the 2020 election.
