APC suspends Nasarawa dep gov

The Nasarawa state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended the state Deputy Governor,  Comrade  Damishi Luka Barau for alleged anti- party activities.
The suspension was announced yesterday by the state interim chairman of the party, Mr Stanley Buba, at the state secretariat of the party along Shendam Road, Lafia.
Buba said the suspension was as a result of a communication received from the ward of the state deputy governor, Ningo Bohar  in Akwanga local government area of the state.
Although our reporter gathered that he was sanctioned over rumoured plan to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but the chairman  his suspension by the ward executives   followed his counter position to the  national secretariat’s  directive to APC members in the National Assembly to block executive bills until sanity is restored in Rivers state.
“We received a letter from his electoral ward today where the executive of the party took a decision in respect of a statement he made challenging the decision of the party regarding the directive of the national secretariat of the party asking members of the party in the national assembly to block all executive bills until sanity is restored in rivers and the country at large,” the party said.
Buba  further disclosed that a committee will be set up to invite the deputy governor to come and explain why he took such action.
Effort to speak to the director of press to the deputy governor, Danjuma Joseph, proved abortive as all calls put to him were not answered while  Barau  is out of the country.
