APC tells Niger govt to lift curfew

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state has called on the state government to lift the curfew it imposed in the state following the wild celebration of its members over the victory of General Muhammedu Buhari (retd) at the presidential polls.

Deputy Governor and leader of the party in the state, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto, made the call yesterday in a press conference, explaining that there had been absolute peace in the state.

He said that the continued imposition of curfew on the peace loving people of the state has become absolutely unnecessary, adding that “government should immediately lift the curfew to allow the people go about their legitimate businesses.”

He said that lifting the curfew would also allow the political parties to go about their normal campaign for the governorship and House of Assembly elections coming up on April 11, 2015
He expressed appreciation to the people of the state for the confidence reposed on the party, adding that “I commend Nigerlites, especially the women and the elderly, for the courage in resisting the expired gimmick and inducements of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the presidential and National Assembly elections.”

He called on the people to turn out en masse to vote for the APC governorship and House of Assembly candidates during the April 1th election.
“A resounding victory for the APC in the governorship election is all that Niger state needs to be a big player in the imminent political equation. We believe that we can all make the change happen in Niger state,” he said.
