A concerned group of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue state has called for the removal of the Benue state chairman of the party, Comrade Abba Yaro, from offi ce . Th e group, led by Chief Johnson Agada, stormed the North Central zonal offi ce of the party in Lafi a, Nasarawa state, yesterday, with a petition stating that the Benue state APC chairman, Abba Yaro, is a man of questionable character who should not be trusted to hold any offi ce of the party and should be removed.

While presenting the petition to the National Vice Chairman, North Central zone, Alhaji Zakari Abdullahi Idde, the group said ,Comrade Abba Yaro has unilaterally taken decision on behalf of the party without recourse to the constitution of the party.

Th e group further explained that the APC constitution has laid down disciplinary rules and procedures on Article 21 particularly, sub Article B, alleged that “the said Abba Yaro uses the unconstitutional and undemocratic means to apply disciplinary measures arbitrarily for unknown off ences, and also used his position to settle personal scores”. It was also alleged that for countless times under slightest provocation the state party chairman assaulted and slapped party offi cials and members during the most harmless argument or diff erence in opinion. Th e group also called for audit of the party’s account in the state saying “ there is no transparency and

accountability whatsoever in the way and manner Abba Yaro administers the fi nances of the party at the state level, he does so recklessly and without recourse to the party constitution but rather at his whim caprice “. Th ey therefore, requested that Abba Yaro be investigated and if found guilty the full weight of the party’s disciplinary actions be taken against him. Also, they requested that while the investigation was ongoing, Abba Yaro should be directed to step aside as the state party chairman pending the outcome of investigation.

Responding, the vice chairman, Abdullahi Idde, commended them for following the constitutional provisions of the party ,urged them to be patient as the party will do all it could to set up a committee to investigate the matter within one week as provided in the party’s constitution. When contacted Abba Yaro said: “forget about those people we do not know them in Benue that is all I can say “.
