The Enugu state chapter of the All progressives Congress (APC) has warned the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to desist from its electoral fraud and political violence, or be ready to face the consequence of such nefarious act in 2019.
The party said no amount of political thuggery, harassment, and intimidation would prevent its members from participating elections in Enugu since the state belongs to all who are all equal stakeholders.
The party issued the warning against the recent attack of the former governorship candidate of the APC in 2015, Barr. Okey Ezea was brutalized by suspected alleged government thugs last week.
Speaking at Agbani, in Nkanu West local government area of the state, during the formal defection of some chieftains of the PDP and their supporters to the APC, the state chairman of the party, Dr. Ben Nwoye, said that the Enugu state PDP-led government has failed the people in all ramifications.
Among the PDP defectors, were a former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state, Barr. Ifeanyi Nwoga, a onetime youth leader, Tony Nwachukwu, and Uche Udoko, among others,
Nwoye, who boasted that his party has put in place the needed structure to send the PDP administration packing come 2019, noted that the alleged political atrocities committed by the Chief Mike Ajogwu-led ENSIEC during the November council polls, adding the ugly act would continue to hurt Chief Okey Ezea.
Receiving the new entrants, the APC national chairman, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, represented by National Vice chairman South- East, Chief Emma Enukwu, applauded their courage for defecting from PDP saying their decision was a wise one.
In his brief remarks, Barrister Nwoga, said that he decided to join the party because it is a political platform for the progressives. “I joined APC because it is a party for the progressives, urging members to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice for the party at all times”.
