APC wins rerun in Bassa/North Jos Federal Constituency

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared Alhaji Haruna Maitala, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of the rerun polls of Jos North / Bassa Federal Constituency.

Maitala won the election with a margin of 1,599 votes.

Declaring the results of the rerun, INEC Returning Officer Professor Francis Kwede, said Maitala Haruna of the APC scored 118,774 votes as against Jonathan Dabo, of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), that scored 117,175 votes, while Abdul-Majid Lawal of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), polled 3,052 votes.

INEC had declared the election earlier conducted on the 23rd of February, as inconclusive following cancellation of more 35,000 votes, following failure of the presiding officers to use Smart Card Readers at Tudun Wada/Kabong Ward of Jos  North LGA.
