APC youth blames Ogbuoji for losing state assembly seats in Ebonyi

A group, Youths Vanguard in Ebonyi state has blamed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded governorship election, Senator Sonni Ogbuoji, for the defeat of the party in the 2019 general elections.

They accused Ogbuoji of creating factions in the party and running the governorship campaign as a personal enterprise.

President of the group, Comrade Chuks Obeh, who briefed journalists  in Abakaliki said the group had reported  to the National leadership of APC that Ogbuoji was destroying the party and ruining its chances of winning the state.

Obeh stated that Ogbuoji’s activities since he won the party’s nomination as the governorship candidate clearly showed that he was not in the race to win but to destroy the party and use the governorship ticket to shop for a ministerial position.

He said after the general elections, Ogbuoji had engaged in publicity campaign claiming to have generated over 90,000 votes for President Muhammadu Buhari in the state when he lost his ward, local government and zone in the presidential election.

He said: “For instance, in Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone, President Buhari scored as announced by INEC 37,655 votes.

“In Ebonyi North, President Buhari scored 34,249 votes whereas in Ebonyi South Senatorial zone where Senator Ogbuoji is not only a serving Senator representing the zone but also the governorship candidate of the APC, President Buhari scored only 18,722 votes which is less than half of the votes Mr President scored in Ebonyi Central Zone.”
