APGA defeats PDP, wins 2 Reps seats in Anambra 

The Deputy Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Paschal Agbodike, has been declared winner of Ihiala Federal Constituency in the just concluded National Assembly poll.

Agbodike, who is currently representing Ihiala 2 State Constituency and candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for the election, polled 5,709 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of Labour Party (LP), who got 3,536 and the incumbent, Hon. Ifeanyi Momah of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) whose scores was 2,554.

The Returning Officer for the constituency, Professor Anthony Okoye, said eight parties participated with their candidates in the election but due to intelligence report and real security situation, elections were not conducted in six towns in the constituency, namely: Azia, Isseke, Lilu, Mbosi, Orsumoghu and Ward 1 of Uli town.

Ihiala LGA had been under attacks by gunmen in recent time, with many public and private buildings, including LG secretariat bombed and burnt by unknown gunmen.

Similarly, the candidate for All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Lady Maureen Chinwe Gwacham, has been declared winner of the election.

Gwacham scored 15,299 votes to defeat her counterparts of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Charles Uchenna Okafor (Wiper), who got 13,332 votes, and Labour Party candidate, Chira Obiora Uzochukwu who gathered 8,159 votes, while the incumbent House of Representatives member for the zone, Hon. Vincent Ofumelu of the PDP scored 6912 votes.
