APGA suspends Gwagwlada chair over ‘insubordination’

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has suspended its chairman in Gwagwalada area council, Engr. Solomon Umezuruike, for “insubordination and misappropriation of funds.”
In a suspension letter signed by the FCT State Chairman of the party, Hon. Chukwuebuka P. Okolie, and FCT State Secretary, Chief Stanley Agwara, it stated that the suspension of the chairman in Gwagwalada was based on a five-man disciplinary committee’s recommendation.
Blueprint gathered that the Committee was set up by the State Working Committee (SWC).
The party, according to SWC, said it had received several petitions from members against Umezuruike which prompted it to set up a disciplinary committee to look into the matter and find a lasting solution.
In the petition, it was alleged that Umezuruike embezzled funds meant for the party and “does everything on his whims and caprices, as if the party is his own personal industry at the local government level and he has no regards for FCT-APGA Chairman and his executive party members, thereby contravening the party’s Constitution.”
The suspended chairman was directed to submit all the party property or documents in his possession to the state secretariat within 72 hours.
Commenting on the development, the state secretary of the party, Chief Stanley Agwara, said the suspension of Gwagwalada chairman of the party was based on the decision and recommendation of the Committee, adding that “this will serve as a warning to other party members.”
