APM’s re-elected national chair pledges victory for party in 2023

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) on Sunday re-elected Yusuf Dantalle as its national chairman for a second term of four years after the party’s delegates approved his aspiration through a consensus.

About 128 statutory delegates attended the national convention, where the decision was taken to re-elect him for another four-year term.

In his acceptance speech, Dantalle, who appreciated his party members for the confidence reposed in him, said his victory will serve as an opportunity to lead the party to victory in the various elective offices in which APM fielded candidates in the 2023 general election, including office of the president.

He said it was the 2nd national convention of the party, in which new national officers emerged in accordance with the party constitution registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“I am humbled by your overwhelming support and confidence in my leadership of our great Party in the last four years resulting in my re-election today as the National Chairman, along with other national officers of the party.

“I highly commend our esteemed delegates for your patriotism, political sagacity and tenacity of purpose in electing and re-electing national officers to pilot the affairs of our great party, APM in the next four years. I also applaud all leaders and members of Allied People’s Movement for the confidence reposed in me to chart the way forward for our Party at this crucial period in the nation’s frail democracy.

“Esteemed delegates, the democratic, peaceful and orderly conduct of this election has reaffirmed our belief in constitutional governance and reinforced our hope for enduring democracy in Nigeria. The tasks ahead are enormous and call for patriotism, unity, diligence, purposeful, visionary and progressive leadership.

“As a leading political party in Nigeria, so much is required and expected of our great party, APM, to point the way forward to our long-suffering compatriots who have been impoverished, oppressed, suppressed and subdued by the present and past governments in the country”, he said.

Expressing confidence that votes would count in 2023, Dantalle said: “Nigerians have suffered enough from recycled politicians who have nothing to offer except pains, depression and confusion that have impoverished our dear country and turned this giant of Africa into the poverty capital of the world besieged by terrorists, insurgents, bandits, militants and kidnappers.

“Allied People’s Movement if voted into power in 2023 will turn around the destiny of our bewildered nation and restore its prestige in the comity of nation’s. The Party promises a breath of fresh air in governance and compassionate leadership, a departure from the maximum dictatorship of the outgoing All Progressives Congress-led government. Power will be returned to the people on whom sovereignty resides. Nigerians shall be free again.”

He said, “it is obvious that the state of the nation is bad, so bad that citizens are killed, kidnapped and tortured daily as governments at all levels woefully failed to protect and secure the populace in clear violation of Section 14(2)b of the 1999 Constitution as amended, which states that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government. Sadly, Nigerians have experienced more carnage than dividends of democracy since 1999 the nation returned to representative governance.

“The forthcoming 2023 general election provides another opportunity to save the nation from clueless leadership. Our great Party fielded credible candidates to contest various offices.”
