Apo-Karshi road to be completed Oct – STDA

The Satellite Towns Development Agency (STDA) has said that 13 kilometres Apo-Karshi road project would be completed in October.

Director of the Agency, Mr Felix Nwankwo, made the disclosure in an interview in Karshi, Abuja.

The Apo-Karshi road project was awarded in 2010 by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) at the contract sum of N6 billion.

The project is expected to ease the traffic gridlock on Nyanya and Karu road leading into the city and the Abuja to Keffi expressway.

“The project is 13 kilometres, asphalt has been done in eight kilometres, four kilometres has reached formation level remaining asphalt surface to be done and one kilometre is where they are doing the earth works.

“They are cutting the hill and filling the remaining bad portion and they will soon finish that portion. That is the only place they are working seriously.  Then, they will come into asphalt of the remaining five kilometres that have been started.

“To make it functional, there is 1.8 kilometres that is part of Karshi infrastructure and RCC (the contractor) has returned to the site and they are working seriously and also doing the drainage.

“So, all these will make the road to be completely functional when completed.”

The director stated that government had paid up to N3 billion to the contractor handling the project, adding that payment was done based on work done so far.  (NAN)
