Appeal Court re-affirms Fintiri’s election as Adamawa gov

The hope of the immediate past governor of Adamawa state,  Senator Bindow Umaru Jibrilla, and the APC to return to Dougerei Government House, Yola was dashed as the Court of Appeal dismissed the appealed filed before it against the election of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of PDP.

Delivering judgement Thursday on the suit filed by Adamawa APC challenging the tribunal’s decision to uphold Fintiri’s election as declared by INEC, the presiding judge Justice A.B Gumel, affirmed Fintiri’s election as the duly elected governor of the state and dismissed APC petition for lack of merit.

Reacting to this victory Gov Fintiri thanked God for the victory and attributed his victory to the people of Adamawa state, who gave him the mandate to governor the state.

He promised not to disappoint the people of the state throughout his tenure and promised to fulfil all his campaign promises to the people.

When contacted for his reaction to the judgement, the Adamawa APC organizing secretary,  Hon Ahmed Lawal, said the party would appeal the judgement at the Supreme Court after studying the appeal court verdict.

It would be recalled that Adamawa APC had approached the election petition tribunal challenging the declaration of Governor Fintiri of the PDP as the duly elected governor, but the case was dismissed for lack of merit.

Not satisfy with the judgement, the APC again challenged the tribunal judgement at appeal court but it struck out.
