The member, House of Representatives, representing Funtua/Dandume federal constituency, Honourable Muntari Dan-Dutse, has become force to reckon with, having carved a niche for himself in the National Assembly. His presence can be noticed in the green chamber due to many bills he has sponsored for the benefit of not only his constituents but also the country at large. However, in his constituency, Dan-Dutse is a household name. Since his foray into politics, Dan-Dutse has established a direct contact and promoted good relationship with his people. As the chairman of Funtua local government, Katsina state in 2000, Muntari Dan-Dutse became the architect of modern Funtua. He constructed many feeder roads, built schools and hospitals in the entire local government area.
His numerous projects initiated and executed have improved the living standard of his people. After his eight successful years as the chairman of Funtua LG, with corresponding record of infrastructural development, Dan-Dutse became a darling to his people. In 2011 general election, Reps Dan-Dutse contested the seat of House of Representatives Funtua/Dandume federal constituency under the Congress of Progressive Change (CPC) in which he won with relative ease. His exceptional and sterling performance between 2011 and 2015 endeared him to his constituents. In 2015 general election, satisfied with his giant strides, the good people of Funtua/Dandume federal constituency renewed his mandate by trooping en masse and voted for him for another four years. The confidence reposed on him motivated the vibrant member to give his best and do more.
As the Chairman, House Committee of Federal Judiciary, Dan-Dutse has assisted greatly towards reforming the courts, leading to quick dispensation of justice. There is no gain-saying the fact that Dan-Dutse, in collaboration with the Senate committee of FCT judiciary, has facilitated the release of budgetary funds which enabled the FCT courts to carry out their capital projects. Besides, Dan-Dutse has secured hundreds of jobs to unemployed youths in Futua and Dandume local governments which he represents. Also worth mentioning, is his empowering programs that have assisted and lifted thousands of people out of poverty in Futua/Dandume constituency. The programs range from giving start-up capital to vulnerable women, distribution of Keke Napep and above all self reliant items such as sewing machines to the beneficiaries. These efforts have gone a long way towards poverty reduction and wealth creation.
In 2019 general election, Dan-Dutse returned for third term. His landslide victory did not come to many of us as surprise as Muntari Dan-Dutse is an epitome of service delivery. If Dan-Dutse will contest hundred times, he will surely win. This is not unconnected to his Midas touch, popularity and acceptability among the downtrodden. In this Ninth Assembly, Reps Dan-Dutse is chairman, committee of agricultural production and services. Looking at his background as a farmer before he ventured into politics and the commitment of the present administration to diversify the economy, Dan-Dutse is a square pet in a square hole. Since he assumed duty as the chairman committee of agriculture, he has been sponsoring motions and bills that will shape the agricultural sector. I think Nigerians and his constituents should expect new policies on modern farming as Dan-Dutse and his colleagues are working round the clock to come up with enabling laws for agricultural production.
