Aregbesola has disconnected Osun people, PDP aspirant says

Ahead of Osun state governorship election scheduled for August 9, an aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oluwole Oke, yesterday accused the incumbent governor, Rauf Aregbesola, of disconnecting the people of the state from their resources.

Speaking with newsmen at the party national headquarters in Abuja shortly after submitting his nomination form, Oke appealed to other contenders to adopt him as the consensus candidate, stressing that with the support of all stakeholders, the PDP would oust the incumbent governor.
The other contenders that have already submitted their forms are Senator Iyiola Omisore, former Minister of Youth Development, Akinlabi Olasunkanmi, and pioneer governor of the state, Isiaka Adeleke

He said: “I have appealed to these political heavy weights, to step down for me and give me this ticket on consensus basis and they know I can never be rude to anyone of them, they know I will carry all of them together, they know I am the unifying party candidate, they know I am the only candidate that can bring everybody together.”
He said he would abide by any consensus arrangement “if the party decides,” stressing: “I am a party man, I am a foundation member of this party, if the party says this is what they want, I cannot be stronger than the party, and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has not given room for any independent candidate, whatever the party decides I follow.”
