Aregbesola’s mega school could renovate all schools, recruit teachers, commissioner laments


The Osun State Commissioner for Education, Folorunsho Bamisayemi, Wednesday said he could have renovated all schools in the state and employ enough teachers with the money used to build one mega school by the immediate past administration. 

The said mega school was built by Rauf Aregbesola’s administration.


Bamisayemi who was a member of the house of assembly during the administration of now Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, said he is also worried with the under-utilization of the mega schools. 


He stated this at the Inter-ministerial press briefing organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation in Osogbo, Wednesday. 


Fielding questions from Journalists on why the mega schools were under-utilised, the Commissioner said only the last administration can explain what informed mega school, saying “I will renovate every school in Osun and put more teachers if I have access to the money used in building a mega school.”


He added that 60 Digital Board was bought at the rate of N1million each and a principal engraved the screen and spoilt everything because “he was not trained before the thing were dumped on him.”


The Commissioner however disclosed that plans are ongoing to bring back the tablet but with digital teaching and adequate training. 


Also, the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Hon Lekan Badmus, disclosed plan by the state government to celebrate this year June 12 in collaboration with civil societies. 


He also said that governors in the Southwest are making serious efforts to mobilize Amotekun corps for joint security operation in the region.
