Arewa NGO visits orphanages, disburses cash to Plateau women

.

A non-governmental organization, Arewa Development Support Initiative (ADSI)  has doled out food items, toiletries, assorted beverages and cash to orphanages in Bassa, Jos North and Jos South local government areas of Plateau state.

Presenting the items, president of ADSI, Hajiya Khuraira Musa, said the gesture was part of their payback programmes to the less privileged persons within the 19 states in Northern Nigeria.

She said her mother died during her delivery and she was taken to Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, Jos, and Zawan Orphanage, as a baby, where she was kept for 9 months.

“This was once my home. I was here from a little baby to 9 months. They cared for me, they made sure that I was fed, I was cleaned and I was given love, regardless of who my parents were, and what tribe I am.

“The least I could do is to come back. Sorry that I didn’t come earlier. I will be given you my support so that you will also give another baby a chance to be whatever God had destined them to be,” she said.

The matron at the Zawan Orphanage, Sister Patricia Uweze, said they were happy receiving one of the babies in the past 50 years.

“Our Lady of Appostles (OLA), was made for the protection of women and children and that was why they opened this orphanage.

“That you are here to remember us, we are grateful.

“God will bless all this support and we are grateful you have been part of those beneficiaries from this Area Development Support Initiatives.”
