Arewa youth urge FG to stand by Onyema over alleged US jury indictment

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has called on the federal government to stand by the owner of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, during his travails, as the airline assisted Nigeria and Nigerians during their hours of need.

AYCF said Air Peace and Onyema were being pilloried for an offence they never committed and for which they were neither indicted nor found wanting, as the transaction of aircrafts purchase for which they were being wrongly accused was not illegal, left no victim, did not put anyone at a loss financial or otherwise and put no one in any form of suffering.

AYCF national president, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, told journalists in Kaduna, Sunday, that “as a group of activists and citizens following closely the widespread media reports suggesting Air Peace owner, Mr. Allen Onyema, was indicted by a US jury, we are motivated by the need for the media to be fair, not just to the chairman of Air Peace but every other Nigerian.

“The news story of a purported indictment was, according to our independent findings both false and distractive. We also got further confirmation from Air Peace lawyers that the news making the rounds of a purported legal tussle was entirely untrue. There was no fraudulent intent in all the Letters of Credit for the purchase of the said aircrafts by Air Peace in the United States, as falsely promoted. There was no victim, individual or institutional in any way, manner or form in the aircrafts transaction.

“All the funds involved were legitimate funds belonging to the management of Air Peace and there was no loss of money or any damage whatsoever to any third party.”
