Indications have emerged that the Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested the former Chief of Army Staff, General Azubuike Ihejirika (retd), over his alleged involvement in the arms deal scam.
Blueprint gathered that operatives of the service arrested the retired army officer late Tuesday night at his residence in the Maitama area of the nation’s capital, Abuja.

A source at the commission told our correspondent that investigation by the anti-graft body had linked Ihejirika with the multi-billion Dollars arms deal money reportedly superintendent over by the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd), during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan.
The embattled former COAS is also said to be under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), even as the agency is said to have already sealed off some property belong to Ihejirika located in choice parts of Abuja.

Information reaching Blueprint indicate that he may be handed over to the commission for further investigation and prosecution.
It would be recalled that an Austrian negotiator, Dr Stephen Davis, had fingered Ihejirika as one of the sponsors of the Islamist sect, Boko Haram, an allegation he dismissed as frivolous and unfounded.
Efforts to confirm the development from the DSS proved abortive as all officials contacted declined comment, this is as the commission was yet to appoint a spokesperson since the assumption of office of the service Director General, Lawal Musa Daura.
