Army begins court marshal of GOC over alleged N400m theft

The Nigerian Army has begun court marshal of former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Maj. Gen. Hekeen Otiki, for alleged theft of N400,000 million.

The Court Marshal started Tuesday at the Command Headquarters Officer Mess, Asokoro, Abuja.

The involvement of the GOC in the scandal came when five soldiers of Operation Harbin Kunama III absconded with the alleged N400 while escorting the money from Sokoko on Tuesday, July 11, 2019, en route Abuja but aborted the mission around Jaji.

Army authority said two of the soldiers were later arrested, while three are still at large.
