Army cautions Nigerians on fraudsters

Authorities of the Depot, Nigerian Army, Zaria, have cautioned members of the public against activities of fraudsters, criminally parading themselves as relatives of the formation’s commandant, Brig.-Gen. Victor Ezugwu, thereby defrauding some candidates who were not successful in just concluded 76 Regular Recruits Exercise. Th is aws contained in a statement issued by the Cantonment spokesperson, Captain Haruna Mohammed Sani, in Zaria, yesterday.

Th e statement read in part: “It has been brought to the notice of Headquarters, Depot, Nigerian Army that criminal minded individuals are parading themselves as relative to the Commandant, Depot, Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Victor Ezugwu to defraud innocent Citizens who were not successful during just concluded 76 Regular Recruits Exercise. “Others claimed to be Principal Staff of Depot, Nigerian Army, thereby convincing their victims to pay sum of money to be enlisted into Nigerian Army.”
According to the statement, some criminal who disguise as Principal of the formation also allegedly deceive the applicants by collecting money from them for the purpose of getting them enlisted. Th e formation drew the attention of the general public that it was not its mandate to recruitment exercise it rather train the intake after been selected by Nigerian Army Headquarters, Abuja. It was made clear by statement that the 76 Regular Recruits Exercise had already been closed offi cially and more so the Intake had begun training. It advised the general public, parents and prospective recruits to try it in the next exercise in 77 Recruitment Exercise, adding that Recruitment into the Nigerian Army was free and that no prospective recruit was expected to pay money
