Army chief promises to improve security situation in Delta

With the establishment of 63 Brigade of the Nigeria Army in Asaba, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. TY Buratai has promised that the security situation in the state will improve tremendously.

The army chief said the strategic position of the state with the  sea borders make it imperative for the setting up of the 63 brigade.

Buratai, who stated this on Monday during the official commissioning of the 63 Brigade headquarters complex in Asaba said  the commissioning of the complex is the first step towards the operationalisation of the brigade in the state.

According to him, “The establishment of the brigade is as a result of strategic reasons. Delta is open to the sea and the military has the role like the navy to complement the security in the sea borders.”

“Army will continue to partner with other security agencies in the country to ensure that the country is safe and secured.

“With the operationalisation of the 63 Brigade in Delta state, all the criminal activities /insecurity will be delt with.”

He commended the state government for  supporting the military operations in state saying the Army will reciprocate the state government’s gestures by ensuring that the state is crimes free .

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, while commissioning the complex, said the  high quality structures fully built by the army engineers showed that the Nigerian Army was  endowed with lots of tables.

Governor Okowa, however, said the nation can tap from the military in making the nation great.

“We take security issues very seriously, we will continue to give priority attention to security agencies in the state. I hope Nigerians understand that there is a lot of talents in the military which we must tap to make Nigeria great.”
