Army, DICON sign pact to locally produce 28 Mraps

The Nigerian Army and Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to produce 28 Mine Resistance Anti-Ambush vehicles (MRAPs).

Speaking during the signing of the document  on Tuesday  at the Army Headquarters Abuja, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army) said production of thw vehicles was inline with the Federal Government local content policy and the need to over the challenges of acquiring lethal equipment outside the country.

” The Nigerian military has faced alot of challnges acqiring lethal equipment to address our security challenges. The production of these Mraps will bridge this gap.

“We may not be perfect at first, but we will continue to improve with time.”

In his remarks, the Director General of DICON, Maj. Gen. Victor Ezugwu said the first ten of the Mraps would be presented next month during the Chief of Army Staff Conference.

He assured the Chief of Army Staff of high standard in the production of the vehicels.

He said materials for the production of the vehicles are sourced locally.
