Army handover 44 suspects of election violence to police in Taraba

The Nigerian Army has handed over 44 suspects arrested during election violence in Taraba state to the Police Command for interrogation.

The suspects were handed over at the Taraba state police command in Jalingo, the state capital.

Presenting the suspects Lt. Col. Muhammed Sani Adamu, the Commanding Officer 20 Batallion Serti explained that the 44 suspects were found culpable before, during and after the Taraba state governorship election across various flashpoints.

He explained that the handing over was in line with efforts of the Nigerian Army to assist the civil society.

He pointed out that the exercise that led to the arrest of the suspects carried out by the army was not in isolation but in collaboration with other sister security agencies in the state.

LT. Col Adamu however, alleged that dangerous and offensive weapons were recovered from the suspects.
