Army holds workshop for commanders on Super Camp concept

The Army Headquarters Department of Training and Operations (DATOPS), has held its maiden workshop for Commanders, Commanding Officers and Staff Officers of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, on the concept of “Super Camp”  at Headquarters 25 Task Force Brigade (Super Camp 2) Damboa, Borno state.

Declaring the workshop open, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, charged the participants to take the workshop with all seriousness, adding that the concept of the Super Camp “is a force multiplier that allows for concentration of manpower and resources.”

Represented by the Chief of Training and Operations (Army), Major General Enobong Udoh, the Army Chief expressed appreciation to the participants “for their sacrifices to the country and for being good ambassadors of the Nigerian Army.”

Earlier in his welcome address, the Theatre Commander, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Major General Benson Akinroluyo, hailed the Army Chief for the Super Camp concept, which he said would serve as “launching pad for mobile offensive operations in containing and denying the Boko Haram terrorists and other criminals freedom of action in identified areas across the theatre”.

Maj. Gen. Benson Akinroluyo, also said the super camps would further “boost force protection of troops while on camps, as well as enable them to project force through long distance patrols and ambushes to dominate their areas of operation.”

Lectures were delivered by the Director Logistics Planning, Army Headquarters, Brig. Gen. Martins Waboke, on: “Administration and Logistics Support of Nigerian Army Super Camp” and the Assistant Director Operations, DATOPS, Lt. Col. I Waziri, on: “Understanding the Concept and Establishments of Nigerian Army Super Camps”.

Army spokesperson, Col. Sagir Musa said the workshop was “quite interactive and the participants were also conducted on a guided tour of super camp Damboa, which later dovetailed into professional group discussion.”

“Participants were drawn from Headquarters Theatre Command, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, as well as Sectors 1, 2 and 3,” he said.

Present at the workshop include the General Officer Commanding 7 Division and also Commander Sector 1, Major General Bulama Biu, Commander Sector 2, Brigadier General IS Ali, Component Commanders, Theatre Training Officer, Brigade Commanders and other senior officers.
