Army kills 4 bandits in Zamfara

Nigerian Army’s 223 Light Tank Battalion, Unit One Division, Kaduna, has killed four armed bandits, suspected to be cattle rustlers, and burnt down their camp located at Ajja Forest in Mada district of Gusau local government area of Zamfara state.
The Commanding Officer of the battalion, Lt. Col. Aliyu Abdullahi Adamu, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Friday.
According to him, during their operation, many armed bandits were seriously wounded while a few of them escaped.

Adamu added that during the encounter, they recovered five AK-47 rifles, 205 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 25 rounds of ammunition not for AK-47, a number of charms and amulets and 11 magazines for AK-47, respectively.
He said his unit in Zamfara was part of the One Division Kaduna’s efforts for the anti-banditry and cattle rustling operations in the state.
He said his troops appreciated the support by the people of Zamfara state as well as the state government in carrying out operations to check criminal activities, particularly the issue of cattle rustling and other armed banditry activities which led to the killing, maiming, looting and inflicting injuries against innocent citizens.

Adamu described the Ajja Forest operation as a “great achievement” not only for the Army, people of the area, but for the entire state, stressing that “the operation will send a signal to the bandits that they have no place in Zamfara state and its environs.”
He gave the assurance that insecurity challenges “will soon be over.”
He appealed to the people of the state to remain calm and to give their support to his troops by providing useful information about criminals’ hideouts to enable them take to urgent action.
