Troops of 6 Division Nigerian Army on Monday raided hideout of the Igwedibia Johnson, aka Don Waney, criminal gang in Rivers state and arrested seven of its members, including two women.
The gang is known for its militancy, cultism activities, kidnapping and illegal bunkering in Rivers state, according to spokesperson of 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Col. Aminu Iliyasu.
Iliyasu said the army stormed the criminals’ hideout after a tip-off by some citizens, and engaged them in an hour gun battle.

“The troops, however, arrested seven others, including two ladies while they were trying to escape during the encounter.
“It is believed that the main kingpin, Digwedibia Johnson, aka Don Waney, was not at the location during the encounter as concerted efforts are on by security agencies to track, arrest and bring him to justice.”
