Army seizes contraband smoked fish in Yobe

The Troops of 156 Battalion Sector 2, Operation Lafiya Dole of the Nigerian Army, have intercepted smoked fish from smugglers at Bukarti town in Yunusari local government council of Yobe state.

Addressing journalists while burning the seized contraband smoked fish, the Commandant sector 2 operation Lafiya Dole Brigadier General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, said the smoked fish were intercepted on Friday October 4, 2019.

The commandant maintained that the illegal fish smugglers brought the contraband items from Diffa, Niger republic through Hadejia in Jigawa state.

“The arrest and burning of all items placed on ban across the theatre of our Lafiya Dole and will be a routine activity in compliance with the federal government directives against trans-border smuggling,” he said.
