Army to conduct more exercises to tackle insecurity

Chief of Army Staff,  Lt.-General. Tukur Buratai says the Nigerian Army  will conduct more exercises this year to tackle some of the security challenges in the country.

Speaking after the first quarters route march organised by the Nigerian Army  Garrison in Abuja, the army chief said there no specific exercise targeted at herdmen/clash, the army’s focus will be on provididing security across the country.

He said:” We are not talking of any specific situation. We are going to train on general area,  which will include the aspect of dealing with herdmen/ farmers clashes. But our focus will be that security is provided across the country.

“Therefore we should expect exercise Harbin Kunama III,  Crocodile Smile III,  Python  Dance III,  and probably another exercise which will made known at the appropriate  time. “

The 15kilometers Route March Exercise,  according to Acting Deputy  Director Army Public Relations,  Major  Salisu Mustapha was mandatory  for all personnel of the Nigerian Army  serving in the Federal Capital Territory,  and it was aimed at testing the physical fitness and endurance of troops.
