Army to provide 321 housing units in Benue

As part of efforts to reduce housing deficit in the country as well as provide affordable houses for personnel and civilians, the Nigerian Army has concluded arrangement to build 321 housing units in Otukpo, Benue state.
This is part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed yesterday by the Nigerian Army and a private estate developer, Betonic West Limited, at the Nigerian Army Post Service Housing Development (PHDL) in Abuja.
Signing the MOU on behalf of the Army, the Managing Director (MD) of PHDL, Brig. Gen. Mahe Bashir said the project would gulp N7.5 billion.
He said the houses to be constructed include 4-bedroom, 3 bedrooms, and 2-bedroom duplexes, in addition to 4-bedroom, 3-bedroom and 2-bedroom detached bungalows.
He said the houses would be designed to meet the taste and choices of prospective beneficiaries.
The MD said the estate would be built with parameter fence, street lights, and provided with adequate security, adding that it is for both military and civilian populace.
He said partnership agreement between the PHDL and Betonic West Limited for the development of post service housing estate was one of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) venture being executed to expand the operations of the PHDL.
The MD said the company would soon open up sales of shares to the public in order to further strengthen collaboration with civil society and raise more fund for its operations.
In his remarks, Managing Director of Betonic West Limited AVM Monday Morgan (rtd) assured that the company would deliver a high standard houses that would impress every Nigerian to live in Otukpo.
Chairman, Otukpo local government area, George Alli said the project would go a long way in reducing unemployment and social vices among youths in the area.
