Artists should be careful with the kind of messages they pass in their songs-Adekunle

Adekunle popularly known as Mr. flowz ibile is a fast rising artist in Nigerian ever growing and competitive music industry. In a chat with SAMSON BENJAMIN he reveals the secrets of his unique style of music and what has kept going in spite daunting challenges.

 Can you briefly introduce yourself?

My name is Adekunle I am a hip hop artist popularly known as “Mr. flowz ibile

 How long have you been in the music industry?

  I have been in the industry since 2010

 How have you been able to go this far as an upcoming artist in industry that is highly competitive and what should your fans be expecting from you?

  First of all I want to give all glory to my creator and my elder brother Alhaji Abdulweed Ogunsesan, the Asoju of Olufimo Abuja, for his support in all the successes in my  my chosen carrier.

 Also, my heart felt appreciation goes to Alhaji king Dr Saheed Osupa for his encouragement always.

As for my fans, I am very excited about the recent developments and love from my fans. May God continue to bless them. They should be expecting a lot from me soon, I have a lot of singles to be released soon.

 I recently featured a popular Fuji artist Shanko Rasheed in a single which will be out soon. Also, I planning to work with Teni and I know my fans will be excited to hear this.

 You have done so many singles; can you tell us which of them is the most popular?

ANS: Out of all my singles, “Blessing” and “Cast” are the most popular. They have been widely received and are very popular. Those two have really make gone viral.

 Have you worked with any Nigerian known or A list artist?

 Yeah, I have worked with some of them and I am planning more, I have worked with artist like Style plus, CDQ, Shanko Rasheed and Oyinkan.

 What distinguishes you from other upcoming artist in Nigeria?

 Hmmm, maybe my kind of music and how I relate with people.

  Tell us more about your background.

 I am from Oyo State, Ibadan precisely, I attended Osun State Polytechnic and I am a Muslim.

 can you tell us the biggest show you ever performed? 

 ANS:  I think that my show in South Africa in the year 2014 and the show in Ghana 2011.

 Which of the artists are you planning to feature in the nearest future?

 I am looking up to Kiss Daniel, Reekado Banks and Davido. Then for rap artists, Reminice, CDQ and Olamide

 What are the challenges you have faced to get to this stage in your music career?

I have gone through so many challenges. It hasn’t been easy. I remember the incident that occurred during one of the performance at ‘ Ijebu-ode. I was invited and I ended up not performing.

  I will go to some shows and the big artist won’t even want to have a hand shake with you but I give God the Glory that the story is beginning to change.

 What can you say about the Nigeria music industry?

I think the music industry in Nigeria is doing well, if not people won’t be coming into the industry. Although some come for fame, some for the money making but still the industry is up and doing.

 As a pop artist, what do you have to say about Naira Marley case?

 Naira Marley is a brother in the music industry. We artists pass massage through music. It all depends on the listeners and how they perceive the massage received. So many people think that Naira Marley is promoting fraud in his music that is their perception. I think other artist should be cautious of the messages they pass through music so that they won’t  influence the younger generation negatively.

 I pray that justice is tempered with mercy. I beg for his release.

 What else do you do aside music?

 I am into business.

 What advice do you have for upcoming artist?

My advance to upcoming artist is this:  “Be focused and don’t give up on what you are doing “, if you keep working and praying, definitely you will get there. Don’t get distracted by anyone or anything. Believe in yourself and focus on your dreams although I am one of them laughs.

  As fast rising artist, who is your role model in the music industry?

 My number source of inspiration is Reminisce. I actually like listening to Dagrin before his demise but I love listening to Reminisce a lot. Another person is King Saheed Oshupa, he is one person I also look up to. I know you will be wondering why Saheed Oshupa, I do gain a lot from his music albums that’s why I look up to him.

 What are your hobbies?

 I love listening to music; I visit the gym regularly and watching football.
