Ashiru registers for APC in Kudan

A day after he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. Isa Ashiru, arrived in his Kudan home town to register for the APC, highlighting speculation of his gubernatorial aspirations.

Ashiru, who registered around 2pm at his Kudan ward in Kaduna state, was accompanied by APC bigwigs like Amb Sule Buba, former PDP chairman Kaduna state, Alhaji Yaro Makama Rigachikun, and Alhaji Ibrahim Yaro.
It would be recalled that Amb Buba, Makama Rigachikun and Alhaji Yaro were part of the members of the new PDP in Kaduna state that decamped to APC, last December.

Speaking to newsmen after Ashiru’s registration, Amb Buba described the event as “historic,” adding, “The response we have seen from people from all nooks and crannies that thronged Kudan on this occasion signifies their readiness to vote APC come 2015 insha Allahu.”
Buba neither confirmed nor denied Ashiru’s governorship aspirations, saying that PDP “should be getting ready with their handover note now.”
According to him, the era of ballot box-snatching and changing of figures after election is over. He warned PDP not to contemplate this line of action.
Buba advised APC members to be patient “because between now and when election will hold they would face various forms of harassment and monetary inducement.”

Buba described Ashiru as “a grassroots politician” who had been a legislator since 1999, which, he stressed, was a testimony of Ashiru’s astuteness that had made him to remain in the legislature for over 14 years.
In his contribution, Yaro Makama predicted that many prominent PDP politicians in Kaduna state would defect to the APC, saying that they left PDP because their followership were tired of lack of democracy dividends in Kaduna state.
He listed Plateau, Katsina, Jigawa and Kano as states that their governors had moved forward, adding that Kaduna state lagged behind “these states in infrastructure development.”
