Ashiru reveals 5-point agenda for Kaduna

The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kaduna state, Hon. Isa Mohammed Ashiru, has said that he would work to improve on security, agriculture, women and youth empowerment, health and education, if elected.

The former member of Kaduna state House of Assembly and later Federal House of Representatives stated this during a dialogue for gubernatorial candidates of all political parties in Kaduna.

A statement signed by special adviser, Media & Publicity, to the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Kaduna state, Malam Shuaibu Gimi, said he expressed deep concern over the prevailing poor security in the state.

He noted that it requires urgent attention while assuring residents that he would adopt a more effective approach to the problem.

Ashiru, who joined the dialogue virtually as he is currently in Saudi Arabia on a lesser hajj, identified the current top-bottom strategy of the present APC state government and the sack of traditional rulers, which has resulted in the existence of vast ungoverned areas, as some of the factors that have continued to cause the deterioration of security in Kaduna state.

The ex-lawmaker further expressed his resolve to revamp agriculture through the revival of Agricultural Development Projects and re-introduction of extension services, adding that the agrarian nature of Kaduna state calls for greater attention to agriculture as the biggest employer of labour. He also lamented the poor economic condition of majority of citizens of Kaduna state, adding that a PDP government in Kaduna state would introduce robust programmes for women and youth with a view to making them productive and self-reliant.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate also said that Kaduna state government under him would maintain a strong partnership with nongovernmental organizations, Civil Society Organizations and some other critical development partners for the purpose of the design and implementation of programmes for the meaningful development of the state.
