Aspirant floats youth, women empowerment programme

Advocate of local government autonomy and a protagonist of State Police, Evangelist Solomon Etim Ika, says he was in politics to assist in alleviating the suffering of youths and women in rural communities.

Accordingly, has promised to float a scheme that would promote youth and women empowerment noting that he intends to expose youths to various skill acquisitions programmes that would enable them start small business within their localities.

The member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Calabar while declaring his intention to contest the councillorship position in ward 9 of Calabar Municipal Council Area Cross River State.

“The plight of young men and women in my community is too remote. Something needs to be done to help them. Youths restiveness and crime rate is high and disturbing because of idleness. These vibrant youths and women needed to be engaged and a source of livelihood provided for them.’

The Councillorship aspirant pledged that he would introduce a youth and women empowerment programme to assist and empower the youth and the women in his area if voted into office.

The Cleric said that he would organize football competitions among the various communities in the Local Government council area and also create recreational centers the provision of modern facilities as avenues where young talented footballers and athletes could be discovered and groomed.
