Aspirant promises infrastructure, youth programmes

A chairmanship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kuje Area Council, Alhaji Ameed Sarki, has promised to fast-track infrastructural development of the council if voted into office in 2019 election.
Sarki, who also promised to initiate youth support programmes to empower and provide jobs for youths in the council, said he would anchor his priorities on security and infrastructural development of the area.
He lamented the recent unfortunate and unnecessary political violence in the area stressing that it was largely uncalled for and promoted by those that want to hold the youths captive for political thuggery.
However, he said, “we can bring in investors to take advantage of our enormous economic potentials if the council is well secured.
In fact, I have been going round to meet our people (political stakeholders) and others to consult and solicit their support for my candidacy”.
Sarki said if given the mandate, he would join forces with the elected sons and daughters of the FCT in the National Assembly to lobby for federal presence in the council, which is reputed as the food basket of the FCT.
He insisted that the youths must be groomed for leadership stressing that the older generation owes it a duty to prepare the youths for future leadership when they would have served out their course.
“One of the biggest challenges we are facing as a people borders on preparing people for leadership.
We should let this era therefore serve as a wake-up call in this direction”.
He cautioned the youths as emerging political leaders against sacrificing their talents for selfish and arrogant politicians, who would only use and dump them.
“As future leaders, the youths are expected to maintain very high moral conduct in their dealings and be disciplined, transparent, teachable and responsive”, he said.
