Assailants attack, injure journalist Ahmad Tukur in Jos

Unknown assailants Friday night attacked and injured, Ahmad Tukur, an ex-media aide, to Nasarawa State Governor, Umar Tanko Al-Makurau.

The assailants were reported to have trailed Tukur to his family resident situated at Muhammadu Wada Street in Jos 6and attacked him at about 10:30pm.

Narrating his ordeals, Tukur said: “I came into Jos, Friday afternoon and I reached home where we broke the fast and after that I took my brother to his house, in the night.

“I came back, parked the car, wind up the glasses, opened up the Burnett, removed the car’s battery. I then saw two persons close to me, I greeted them, but none of them responded to me.”

Tukur said his attackers were three in numbers, and that they went on a Motorcycle, while two of them stepped off, the rider remained on it, while it was on.

“They covered their faces, dressed in black, one of them tried to stab his knife at my abdomen. I used my hands to blocked it, he cuts my palms. I struggled with him, he injured me and the other guy standing further rushed to stab me on the head, I dogged,” he said.

Tukur said after he screamed persistently, people at the neighbourhood came out and the attackers climbed the motorcycle and escaped.

Tukur was later rushed to hospital, where he received medical treatment and has since returned home.

He said the matter has been reported to the Divisional Police Office at ‘C’ division.

But calls to the Police spokesman, Plateau State Command, DSP Tyopev Terna, for comments were not answered.
