‘Assault on Ekwermadu wake up call to dubious politicians’

Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) worldwide Sunday, called on angry Igbo youth abroad to sheathe their sword as their proposed actions against South-east leaders has thrown the region into panic.

Some Igbo youths suspected to be members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had on Saturday attacked Senator Ike Ekweremadu at Nuremberg Germany, where he attended the New Yam Festival.

OYC in a press release issued to journalists in Abakaliki by its President General Mazi  Okechukwu Isiguzoro, called on politicians to be mindful of their words.

The statement reads in part: “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide observed that tensions are building up in many quarters in the South-east, as many Igbo leaders have hurriedly cancelled their trips abroad over the recent harassment and mob action against a respected Igbo son and politician Sen Ike Ekweremadu, at the New yam Festival at Nuremberg Germany recently.

‘Irrespective of the overwhelming outrageous public condemnation of the disrespectful assault meted on the person of  Sen Ike Ekweremadu, We gathered from intelligence report, that more mob action awaits some corrupt and deceitful South-east leaders who had failed in governance since 1999 till present.

“OYC pleads with our angry Igbo Youths and agitators to shelve off any planned violent mob action against Igbo leaders here in Nigeria and abroad at the moment.
