Assembly candidate seeks consolidation of APC’s victory in Kwara

All Progressives Congress (APC) state House of Assembly candidate Malam Abdullahi Haliru-Danbaba has called on kwarans to replicate the victory of the party during March 9 elections by voting all APC candidates.

Haliru-Danbaba, who is contesting for the Kaiama/Wajibe/Kenmaji constituency in Kaiama local government seat, made the call in an interview in Ilorin on Thursday.

He said that the party was able to demystify the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election due to bad governance and leadership.

According to him, the ‘O to ge’ (enough is enough) movement is very effective in the state because of the years of maladministration and bad representation of the PDP.

“With the election, Kwarans have demonstrated that they are ready to enjoy the new change in the country.

“The defeat of the PDP in the elections of Feb. 23 was as a result of bad governance of 15 to 20 years.

“No infrastructure; the few infrastructure are in bad shape and no new one. In terms of civil servants’ welfare, no salary payment and the one that is paid do not commensurate with the labour.

“You can’t compare the salary of Kwara with that of Oyo and Kogi States. The difference between salaries of grade level 10 step 5 in Kwara and Oyo is about N40, 000.

“The world is a global village and the civil servants in Kwara know what their counterparts in Oyo state take,’’ he said.

The APC candidate also said that disrespect for the traditional institutions in the state, alongside the aforementioned factors, were cumulatively responsible for what played out at the poll.

Haliru-Danbaba, who resigned from Govovernor Abdulfatah Ahmed’s administration, explained that new innovation in the electoral system made it difficult to perpetrate electoral rigging like before.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting free, fair and credible elections and urged the INEC to sustain the tempo in the March 9 Governorship and state assembly elections.

He congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for his re-election and urged him to consolidate on his zero tolerance for corruption, fight against insurgency in the Northeast and economic revival.
