At last, ALGON resolves rift, passes vote of confidence on National President, Alabi David



The 36 state chapters of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) and FCT as well as the members of the Board of Trustees BOT have passed a vote of confidence on the National President, Hon Kolade Alabi David.


Among the 37 state chapters present at the National Executive Council meeting where David was endorsed also included the chairman of the Kaduna state chapter, the deputy president, Hon.Mahmud Mohammed Aliyu, who was said to have taken over the leadership of the association after a purported removal of the president.
Secretary General Binta Bello who read the communique on Thursday after the association’s NEC meeting in Abuja stated that members of the association expressed their unflinching loyalty to Hon David as the president of ALGON.


The communique read: “We wish to also unanimously express our inflicting loyalty to Hon Kolade David Alabi’s leadership as the National President of ALGON and aver unequivocally our consensus solidarity as well as unbroken loyalty to his administration which is presently bring the ideals and objectives of its founding fathers as enshrined in the Constitution of our association. 
“Furthermore, his recent purported removal was the most unfortunate fake news of our time and should be ignored in its letters and spirit. Whereas, the faceless Andrew Alu (signatory to press release purportedly removing David as president) is unknown to the body of ALGON, all allegations raised were mere exhibition of ignorance on the part of the architects who were misguided by deliberate mischief against ALGON Constitution- page 11,section 19, subsection 2.


“In the light of the foregoing, the BOT and NEC of ALGON wish to warn against any form of distraction or external forces/fifth columnist to ALGON. At no point in time contemplate changing its present exemplary leadership and so do hereby call on the general public to discountenance the fake information.


“ALGON under the present executive committee is unwavering in its resolve to return the local governments back to its rightful position and hereby call on all Nigerians to be aware of this important information.” 
The chairman Kaduna state chapter Hon Aliyu had earlier dissociated himself from the purported removal of Alabi David and told NEC that he was embarrassed by several calls congratulating him on his emergence as the president. 


Meanwhile, ALGON has expressed concern over rising insecurity, kidnapping and other social vices in the country.
According to the body, the insecurity “requires effective inclusion of all the entire local government administrators given its grassroots strength and demographic advantage with a bottom up approach as part of paradigm shift with proven possibilities of reducing it to the barest minimum.”
