At last, Okorocha Inaugurates transition committee

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has finally inaugurated his  21- member transition committee that would interface with another  committee  earlier set up by  Imo governor-elect, Rt.Hon.Emeka Ihedioha, thus putting paid to the speculation that he was not disposed to  a smooth hand-over  to the next government.
It would be recalled that the governor had criticized the Transition Committee  set up  by the governor-elect, saying that the over 200 people appointed  by Ihedioha was too much and that the state’s budget would not be able to carry them , adding that its constitution showed that the incoming government had come to loot the state’s treasury.

The committee is headed by the Secretary to the Government of Imo State(SGI), Hon Mark Uchendu while the Principal Secretary to the Governor(PSG),Emeka Duru will serve as Secretary of the committee.

Meanwhile, the activities lined up showed that on May 2, there would be a joint inauguration of the two committees after which there would be tour of facilities in the Government House.

From May 3, the governor and governor-elect would have meetings with traditional rulers, members of the NUJ,Labour CAN etc and make out time to inspect state owned projects and federal government projects built by the state government. Such meetings,  inspection of projects and familiarization tours would continue till the hand over date on the 29th of May.
