At Women World Cup, Norway women’s soccer got big stuff

Norway scored three goals during the first half to secure an easy win over their rivals Nigeria during their first game in Group A at the Women’s World Cup 2019 in Reims. The 1995 world champions registered their intentions early when Guro Reiten’s shot went past the net after deflecting off Onome Ebi in the 17th minute.

Seventeen minutes later, Lisa-Marie Utland fired a shot through goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi’s hands to make it 2-0. That was just minutes before Osinachi Ohale’s own goal sealed Nigeria’s fate in the 37th minute. These results were incredibly important to Norway ahead of their game with France, promising to be a terrific game to watch and a great chance to make some money at betway.

During the game, Norway’s goalkeeper, Ingrid Hjelmseth didn’t have a lot to do as the Nigerian women struggled to get any chances. The African champions had a bad night as defender Faith Michael had to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher after crashing with team-mate Tochukwu Oluehi.

Norway Proves They Mean Business

Norway women are determined to take their first world cup title in 24 years. Martin Sjogren’s side has already laid down the marker after breezing past the lowest ranked team in Group A at the Stade Auguste-Delaune.

Playing without the first Ballon d’Or winner Ada Hegerberg, the team made the game worthwhile for betway soccer betting enthusiasts, proving they deserve a chance at the title. Ada has refused to be part of the national team since 2017, standing against what she terms as lack of respect for players in the Norway women’s team.

With the team featuring Chelsea duo Maren Mjelde and Maria Thorisdottir, Norway took the points with three goals within 20 minutes. Caroline Hansen combined with Reiten to open the scoring surge with a shot deflecting off Ebi’s arm to the net. Ebi is the first African woman to play in five World Cups.

Why Norway Isn’t The Favorite Team For The Super Falcons

The super falcons have conceded more goals (59) in the World Cup than any other team in history.  Norway has scored 19% of these goals (11 of 59). The Norwegians had also won all their first matches in their last seven world cups from 1995 to 2019, with their last defeat being in 1991 when they lost 0-4 against China.

For the seventh time, Norway joined the USA as the only two nations two scores three goals during the first half of the Women’s World Cup game. Their goalkeeper Ingrid Hjelseth also became the fourth player to appear for the World cup tournament at the age of 39 years or older after Nigeria’s Perpetua Nkwocha (2015), USA’s Christie Pearce (2015) and Brazil’s Meg (1995).

“We Never Give Up” – Nigeria Says

Speaking after the win, Norway boss martin Sjorgren revealed that their style against France would be different. Martin revealed that the team would go deeper with counter-attacks as the game promises to be tough.

Nigeria boss Thomas Dennerby said his team never gives up in sports no matter the outcome. His team will take the necessary changes while reflecting at their mistakes to stand a better chance in their other games in the tournament.
