ATBU seeks FG’s intervention on school’s infrastructure

The Vice Chancellor of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, Bauchi State, Prof. Abdulrahman Ibrahim, has called on the federal government, as a matter of urgency, upgrade, as well as provide adequate infrastructure within the university premises.
Prof. Ibrahim, also lamented that the school’s budget is grossly inadequate for project execution.
This is even as he craved for the support and intervention of the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing towards completion of some projects.
A delegation led by Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Mrs.
Nimota Akanbi, Vice Chancellor and other Council members of the institution were recently on a courtesy call on the Minister of State II, Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Surv.

The Vice Chancellor, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, stated that their mission was to solicit the support of the ministry towards the provision of structures, road network projects in the main campus and also the upgrading of its present 0.5 megawatt to 3.5 megawatt electricity, to enhance proper and effective utilisation.
He, however, thanked the ministry for including ATBU among the nine pilot universities that would benefit from the rural electrification project in Nigeria.
Ibrahim also commended the ministry on its achievements and success story in the housing, power and road sectors since the inception of this administration.
Responding, the Minister of State II, Suleiman Zarma, reiterated that federal government’s commitment towards the provision of critical infrastructure across the country, despite inadequate resources and low budgetary provision.
Zarma stated that budget is usually inadequate in all MDAs, but noted that President Buhari, in fulfilment of his campaign promises to Nigerians is committed to the yearnings and aspiration of the people towards the nation’s development.
