Athletes raise alarm over poor organisation, facilities, as CAA tourney kicks off

Ivorian Marie-Josee Ta Lou, has slammed the Local Organising committee for the Asaba 2018 African Senior Athletics Championships over the poor travelling arrangements for athletes to the event.
The 21st African Senior Athletics Championships expected to have over 52 countries in attendance kicks off today.
Ta Lou was one of the several athletes delayed for hours at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport Lagos on Monday and she took to her Instagram status to vent her frustrations.
“I think this is the first and last time I will come to Nigeria to compete.
If you are not ready to organise something please don’t,” Ta Lou wrote on her Instagram status shortly before she departed Lagos for Asaba on Monday.
“Three days of travel for some Athletes raise alarm over poor organisation, facilities, as CAA tourney kicks off and two days for another, like you travel from Africa to Asia or America.
“I do four time African Champion and it’s my first time to have that kind of bad organisation.
No respect for the people.” Ta Lou posted 10.89 seconds at then last IAAF Diamond League in Monaco.
She has personal bests of 10.85 seconds in the 100 metres, set in 2018 in Shanghai, and 22.08 in the 200 metres set at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics in London.
Other top African athletes to grace the championship include the likes of Isaac Makwala, Caster Semenya, Wayde Van Niekerk, Akani Simbine, and Julius Yego and of course stars from the home front; Blessing Okagbare, Tobiloba Amusan, Divine Oduduru among others are all expected to light up the tracks in Asaba from Wednesday.
