…Says no Nigerian can defeat Buhari

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state, Engr. Markus Gundiri, has doubted the loyalty of his state governor, Jibrila Bindow to the party since former Vice President Atiku Abubakar left to People Democratic Party (PDP).

Engr. Gundiri, who was the 2011 governorship candidate of defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the 2015 governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), said governor Bindow for now may be an agent of the opposition party (PDP) in the ruling APC.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja yesterday, the APC chieftain also disclosed that even as preparations for the 2019 general elections have started, no living Nigerian can contest election against President Muhammadu Buhari and win.

Gundiri believe that the President’s achievement and his popularity are factors to be considered.

On governor Bindow loyalty to APC, he said: “Well, I can not talk for the people but I can talk for myself. For sure there can not be any trust because he (Governor) is like a wife you have and you devoiced her and she goes into anither house, do you think the two husbands will trust each other? No, they won’t. Probably once in a while the wife could sneaks out to the previous husband or vice versa.

“So, that possibility of leakages coming in from either sides of the divide. Therefore, believe me I don’t think I can trust the governor of Adamawa state in APC again, he may be an agent now in APC unless he proves otherwise. That’s my stand.”

While commenting on reelection bid of President Buhari, he asked: “Who else in this country today can stand election against Buhari and win? I don’t think there is anyone.

“Look you have to look the achievements of thia president in these few years. It took PDP 16 years to establish a system and you can’t expect APC in three years to establish that type of position. It is going to take some time.

“If you give the president another four years then you can now say for sure that heis going to do much more better than what PDP did in the last sixteen years. Look, Buhari came into governance at a time Nigeria was in a seriou problem; economically, security wise and all other problems that were associated with leading in this country and it takes time to really understand the situation and put the right people in the right places to help tackle these problems.

“At one point in this country, the security situation was bad but when he came in he started fighting the Boko Haram and all other people that were out to distort all the system we have in this country. He has succeeded. Now, there are pocket of some of these militia here and there but that is expected in any country in the world, even the United State of America and all other big democracies in the world have those type of problem.”

On the recent defection of former vice president Atiku Abubakar back to PDP, Gundiri said: “there has not been any type of distabilisation in Adamawa APC as at now, the party is even waxing stronger and more people are coming to the APC. ODP in Adamawa state has worse problem than any other state in the federation because I’m in APC I won’t talk more about that but for sure they have problem, even the party itself at the national level has problem. APC is much stronger.”
