Atiku goes to US after 12 years

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Presidential candidate for the February 16 elections has finally traveled to the United State of America, US after 13 years of controversy around his alleged corrupt cases at the State.

It could be recalled that, Atiku has not visited the U.S. since 2007 when he left as Nigeria’s vice-president.

Similarly, the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo had accused Atiku of fraud while in office, and he was allegedly linked to corruption charges filed in the U.S. The politician denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

For the over 12 years that Atiku was unable to visit the U.S. American authorities had declined to issue him entry visa and there were speculation that a secret indictment had been entered against him by that country’s authorities.

Earlier this year, there were media report, that the America authorities issued Atiku entry visa. Consequently, the Minister Information, Culture and Tourism, Laid Mohammed appealed to the US Embassy not issue him visa at this critical time, on the account that it will suggested an endorsement of his candidature.

However, confirming the report, the PDP national publicity secretary and director media and Publicity of Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization PPCO, Kola Ologbondiyan in a phone chat with Blueprint Newspapers confirmed that the former vice president is indeed in the US.

He said, “yes the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential candidate, Waziri Adamawa, Atiku Abubakar is currently in the US as I speak to you”

Similarly, according to a statement signed by Atiku’s Media Adviser to the former Vice President arrived 20.20 hours (14.20 hours Washington DC time) on a visit to the United States.

The statement reads: “the PDP presidential candidate arrived at 20.20 hours (14.20 hours Washington DC time).

“Yesterday, Atiku Abubakar met with the business community in Lagos at an interactive session to unveil his plans to get Nigeria working again.

“Thursday morning, he left Abuja accompanied by the DG of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation and Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki for the  United States.

“Atiku Abubakar will in the course of his trip hold meeting with US government officials, the business community and the Nigerian community.

“He will returns to the country on Saturday.
