Atiku will win next week – Makarfi

Former Kaduna state governor and one time Caretaker National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ahmad Makarfi has predicted that on Saturday February 23, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will win the postponed presidential election.

Makarfi said when Obasanjo wanted to be president in 1999, his people did not support him and that he did not deliver his ward in 1999. But he was elected president with votes from the northern part of the country.

He said: ’Former President Obasanjo came up with series of policies that has virtually destroyed the north, if north has an enemy, then Obasanjo is that enemy. He came up with the 25 Billion Bank capitalization policy and because of that, today, there is no single bank owned by a northerner or northern government.

‘’He also empowered many of his people who are in business, making some of them to be billionaires, and at the end of the day, he even attempted to be a life president when he sought for the 3rd term which by the grace of God, he did not get.  Because of that, he did things that did not favour the north before he left office.

‘’When President Goodluclk Jonathan became president, he empowered his people by opening up opportunities for them to make easy money and today, if you go to Abuja, most of properties in the Federal Capital belongs to either Igbos or people from the South-south. Apart from that, he cancel programs started by Former President Umar Yar’adua by transferring monies for such projects to the Niger Delta.

‘’But on our own side, President Muhammadu Buhari that Nigerians, especially the ordinary masses from the north are ready to do anything for him to be president was elected in 2015.  Since then, he has concentrated most of his projects in the south as if to punish the north for voting him for president.

‘’Some northern elders did all they could to see him with a prepared document and advice him on how he could  help and develop the north so that the region can be self- sustaining, especially if he revived most of our collapsed industries.’’
